Chiropractic Fibromyalgia: Relief of Fybromyalgia Symptoms

Many of those suffering from Fibromyalgia use Chiropractic care for the relief of their  Fibromyalgia Symptoms.  Chiropractic adjustments  have shown dramatic results in the relief of  fibromyalgia symptoms, reducing the irritability of tender point pain.  Chiropractic care, a holistic approach often used in the relief of FIBROMYALGIA  symptoms of pain, is a drugless and non-surgical alternative treatment you may want to consider.

Today, the treatment for fibromyalgia  with chiropractic incorporates aspects of the body, mind and spirit.  Patients can be rather slow in responding to a chiropractor, however, it is usually best to try regular treatments of chiropractic for fibromyalgia for at least  a couple of months before deciding if its effects are beneficial in the relief of your fibromyalgia symptoms.

What Are The Origins Of Chiropractic?

Chiropractic, or the term Chiropractor, derives from the Greek word  meaning “done by hand”, dating  back to  1895. The discipline was developed by Daniel David Palmer from Davenport, Iowa.  Palmer’s objective was to find a cure for disease and illness that did not use drugs. Palmer studied the structure of the spine and the ancient art of manipulation.

Palmer first treated a local janitor who complained of deafness after performing heavy labor in a stooped position. Upon examination Palmer noted a lump on the janitor’s back that he attributed to a displaced vertebra. Shortly after Palmer’s adjustment of the janitor’s back, his hearing was restored.  Later Palmer claimed to successfully treat a man’s heart condition using spinal manipulation.  Based upon his success with cases as such, Palmer continued to treat and restore diseased conditions through spinal alignments.

As more patients began to seek Palmer’s care, he refined his theory to state that many ailments were caused by misaligned vertebrae, impinging on spinal nerves.  Palmer called such interference with normal nerve transmission “subluxations”.  He postulated that after manipulations or adjustments to correct the proper vertebral alignment, normal nerve transmission restored the body to resume its innate ability to recover from illness.

What Does A Treatment of Chiropractic for Fibromyalgia  Entail?

Today a Chiropractor is also known as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) or Chiropractic Physician who diagnoses and treats patients with health problems and conditions such as fybromyalgia.  A Chiropractor deals particularly with the muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems, focusing in the region of the spine. Chiropractors  have found that  interference with Neuromusculoskeletal Systems impairs the body’s normal functions, lowering its resistance to chronic pain and  diseases such as FIBROMYALGIA.  When treating Fibromyalgia with Chiropractic, it is observed that spinal or vertebral dysfunctions alter many important body functions by affecting the Nervous System, and that skeletal imbalance through joint, bad posture or articular dysfunction, especially in the spine, often causes  fibromyalgia pain.

Chiropractic is a holistic approach, stressing on the patient’s overall health and wellness. It recognizes that many factors affect health including exercise, diet, rest, environment, and heredity. Chiropractors provide natural, drugless, non-surgical health treatments, relying on the body’s inherent recuperative abilities. Chiropractors also recommend changes in lifestyle – diet, exercise, and sleep habits for example – to their patients. When appropriate, Chiropractors consult with and refer patients to other health practitioners.
